#Skyrim realistic lighting overhaul install
What I find is that RLO is more immersive in the sense that light goes where light should reasonably go.Lighting is definitely one of the first mod categories you want to install to see drastic improvement to graphics in your game.įor Skyrim, lighting falls in two categories-interior and exterior ie weather. COT I think is better depending on your settings and monitor. I used to use RLO before but now with my plasma 50" monitor it's a bit dark unless I tune up the brightness. COT has options during install to help you make it the way you want it. I use just COT and find the building interiors warm and dungeon interiors not to dark. I have the quartet of moddy goodness Though I will say a bad rainstorm or fog will make my computer cry a bit, especially when I try to sprint my horse. So far, ELFX looks a bit more reasonable in the interior lighting department and dungeons are still creepy, although not as much so as with RLO.

I didn't have a problem with the darkness of dungeons and dwemer ruins, but sheesh, I'd like Breezehome to not be like a monestary. Both are pretty dark inside though RLO is darker in my experience, in dwarven cities almost impossibly so. I used both had the same thing don't use the darkening option in COT so interior vanilla then install ELnFX and use the darkening option from that.Īs for RLO I don't know. You will have to carry a light source or use night vison racial ability or mod to see anything. It will cover lightless underground areas with complete darkness. Are you running any ENB or some darker dungeon mod? Which is better? Has anyone here tried both? Which one do you prefer? Both are compatible with COT but do pay attention when you are installing - if I recall, the mods have conflicting external lighting mods someone correct me if I am wrong.
